Alan B. Oppenheimer

President and Founder, Open Door Networks Inc.


Alan B. Oppenheimer, president and founder of Open Door Networks, Inc. worked for Apple Computer from 1983 to 1994, helping to design the AppleTalk network system for the original Macintosh computer and working on such products as the LaserWriter printer, AppleShare file server, Apple Internet Router and Apple Remote Access.

Alan founded Open Door Networks in 1995. Open Door is a Macintosh-focused Internet company, specializing in Internet security software. Under Alan's direction, Open Door shipped the first Macintosh firewall in 1998 and currently ships the DoorStop X firewall and Who's There? Firewall Advisor products. Alan is co-author of the book "Internet Security for Your Macintosh: A Guide for the Rest of Us," as well as president of the Alan and Priscilla Oppenheimer Foundation.
