the new way to experience the Web
User's Guide
Welcome to Envision: the new way to experience the Web. The World Wide Web is over a decade old, but until now we've
been "browsing" it pretty much the same way we did 10 years ago.
No more! Envision is the new way to experience the Web. Instead of Web pages in browser windows surrounded by text,
Envision automatically takes key images from Web sites and displays
them in Web shows, outside the traditional confining windows of your Web browser.
So far outside that they no longer even need to stay on your Macintosh!
With Envision you can:
- Choose a site with interesting images.
- Control which images are included in a show.
- Customize the display of images (background, display interval,
etc).
- Use the entire screen, for a true presentation-style display.
- Use Web images for your Desktop Picture and Screen Saver display.
- Display images on your television, digital picture frame, iPod,
and other devices through Envision Everywhere.
What's new in Envision 1.1
Along with various minor enhancements and bug fixes, Envision
1.1 introduces
- Montage mode - In addition to displaying images in the main window, Envision
can now display each image in its own window, creating a montage
effect.
- Image search - Search the Web for images in a given size range that match
keywords you specify, and display them in a show.
- Support for Envision Everywhere - While Envision moves Web images beyond the confines of the
Mac's Web browser, Envision Everywhere goes even further by moving
those images beyond the confines of the Mac itself, to flat-panel
TVs, digital picture frames and even the iPod photo. See Envision Everywhere on Open Door's Web site for more information on the concept,
as well as the Envision Everywhere section in this User's Guide for specifics.
- Web Show of the Week - Open Door now publishes a free Web show each week. As long
as Envision is installed on your system, you can download any
of the Shows of the Week and play them. These shows are created
using the most interesting Web sites we can find, just for your
enjoyment.
