ASHLAND OR -- April 18, 2005 -- Open Door Networks, developers of "Envision: the new way to experience the Web," today announced that the software is beginning a year-long, country-wide tour of museums across the United States. Envision will be accompanying the Macworld Digital Art Gallery, which Open Door sponsors, on that tour. The software will be used to supplement the Gallery's wall-hanging works with Macintosh-driven shows of Gallery and other artwork. The software will automatically pull images for those shows off the Web, format those images, and display the resulting show on a variety of screens connected to the Macintosh.
Envision, shipping since mid-2004, is a part of the ongoing Apple-led synthesis of traditional entertainment, computers and the Internet. What Apple's iPod and iTunes Music Store have done for Web-based music, Envision and Open Door's Envision Everywhere program do for Web-based images. Envision takes the Web's wealth of images outside the limitations of traditional Web browsers, enabling a new set of entertainment options based on those images. Envision Everywhere helps users implement those options on a wide range of entertainment devices. Details of Envision and Envision Everywhere, including a free 30-day evaluation version of the product, are available from the Envision Web site at http://www.opendoor.com/envision/.
The Macworld Digital Art Contest and Gallery has been a fixture at Macworld for the past seven years, highlighting Mac-created art from a large number of up-and-coming artists. "The inclusion of Envision is a perfect fit with the gallery. The attendees are really going to love this new addition to the art gallery experience!" said contest and gallery coordinator Daryl Wise.
"We view Envision as part of the ongoing evolution of digital art and entertainment," said Alan Oppenheimer, president and founder of Open Door Networks. "We are glad that a number of the modern museums feel the same way. We think this tour will be great exposure for the Envision concept, and that Envision will greatly supplement the tour."
The first tour locations include The Art Institute of Phoenix, The Art Institute of Washington (Arlington, VA) and The New England Institute of Art. Details of tour locations and dates, as well as an Envision show of the Digital Art Gallery itself are available at http://www.opendoor.com/envision/tour.html .
