II- Country Dances of Brooke Friendly and Chris Sackett
The second volume
of country dances by Brooke Friendly and Chris Sackett is hot off
the press. Chris and Brooke's dances, known for their great flow
and the occasional unique twist, range from accessible to challenging,
boisterous to mysterious, driving and energetic to lyrical and graceful,
They have been taught around North America and beyond by such callers
as Bruce Hamilton, Helene Cornelius, Gene Murrow and Jacqueline
Schwab.
The volume includes
a number of dances written to traditional slip jigs as well as a
few traditional and medieval tunes. Composers contributing tunes
include Dave Bartley, Jonathan Jensen, and Shira Kammen.
The English
Country Dances included in the second volume are Alder Cove, Birthday
at Pinewoods, Chocolate for Breakfast, The Dancing Betty, Daybreak,
Hazelfern Place, Hey Baby Hey, An Improper Notion, Joint Effort,

Rim. The Scottish Country Dances are McNeal Pavilion, Orcas Rising,
The Solution, Susan Mann's Jig, Trip to Pamama.
With full size
pages, spiral binding, large print and clearly typeset music with
chords, the book was designed for use by both callers and musicians.
The 59 page voume is $15 and may be purchased through the Country
