On March 19, 1996 the Ashland City Council formally approved the dedication of a city-owned parking lot for use as a winter-months ice skating rink. The Ashland Parks Commission had previously agreed to maintain and operate the rink (see "Ashland ponders ice rink" article from the March 12 Mail Tribune). Click here for some facts about the proposed rink.
The community raised the approximately $200,000 needed to purchase and install the rink and associated equipment. Read the kick-off press release for details of the fund raising campaign. More money is still needed for the finishing touches.
Here's how you or your company can help make the Ashland ice rink a reality:

Oh yeah, in case you're wondering where the rink will be, the proposed location is right outside Lithia Park at the corner of Winburn Way and Nutley Drive. Go by and check it out some time -- it's the perfect location.
Rink opening is currently scheduled to coincide with the Festival of Light!
