What are the responsibilities of an Opendoor Agent Partner?

Opendoor interviews all of our Agent Partners to ensure they operate in accordance with our partnership principles: customer first, transparency, and accountability. Once we have an agreement in place, we require:

  • Upfront and ongoing training on Opendoor products and policies
  • Contact with all referred customers within 4 business hours of receipt
  • Weekly status updates on referred customers to Opendoor
  • Positive ratings and feedback from referred customers

For agents in Dallas-Fort Worth and Phoenix, we have additional opportunities for agents at different stages of their career.

What opportunities are there in Dallas-Fort Worth and Phoenix?

Buyers can now use the Opendoor website or app to start an offer on any property on the MLS. Our brokerage team helps guide buyers by answering questions they may have and helping them tour homes they may be interested in. When the buyer is ready, our brokerage pairs them with an agent to help submit an offer and walk them all the way through closing.

This creates opportunities (separate from the Opendoor Agent Partner program) for agents in any stage of their career. If you’re a newly licensed agent with minimal transaction experience, apply for the On-Demand Tour Agent role. If you’re an experienced agent, apply to the Buying Agent role where you’ll work with serious buyers to get their offers submitted, accepted, and closed.

How much will this cost?

We do not charge anything to enter the program, and there is no upfront cost for referrals. Opendoor is committed to Agent Partner relationships that foster mutual benefit and market share growth.

Agent Partners only pay a referral fee to our brokerage if they close on a transaction with a referred seller or buyer. The fee is a percentage of the agent’s commission, and averages 1% of property sale price unless otherwise noted in agent partner agreement.

What types of referrals will I receive?

Opendoor Agent Partners are eligible to receive both buyer and seller referrals. Actual volume by referral type may vary over time.

Note: We do not distribute leads. We only send quality referrals who express interest in working with a top-rated partner agent to get the most out of their purchase or sale transaction.

How does the $1500 client credit work?

Opendoor Agent Partners get the exclusive benefit of extending a $1500 credit to their clients who sell to Opendoor. Once in contract, the buyer agent for Opendoor in your market will provide this credit toward closing costs via an addendum to the contract.

Do I have to hang my license with Opendoor’s brokerage?

The Opendoor Agent Partner program is a broker-to-broker client referral partnership and is supplemental to your existing brokerage affiliation. This is not a solicitation for employment, and permission from your existing brokerage is required in order to join.

May I send referrals to other agents?

Agent Partners may not send referrals to other agents unless they receive explicit permission from Opendoor. This is to maintain transparency and accountability for each referral made.

How many Agent Partners do you have in each market?

The number of Agent Partners varies by market. This number depends on the number of Agent Partners who pass our quality standards and quantity of referrals generated in each market.
