In the last two months, more people have come to Opendoor for home offers than at any time in our company’s history. That means we have to be more focused than ever on putting the right team in place to service our growing customer base. In addition to hiring from outside of Opendoor, we’re deeply invested in growing our talent from within. It allows us to develop exceptional leaders who are acutely aware of the problems we work tirelessly to solve for our customers. Today, we’re pleased to announce the promotion of two of our talented leaders.

Christy Schwartz has been named Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to oversee the accounting work required of a public company. Her new role as CAO is an acknowledgement of the strong leadership and technical skills she has exhibited in overseeing Opendoor’s accounting organization. She will continue to report to our Chief Financial Officer Carrie Wheeler.

Christy joined the Opendoor team in 2016 to build and lead our accounting function. Her team covers all of the operational accounting and financial reporting needed to run our business. In other words, her team is responsible for such things as paying utility bills on thousands of homes, accounting for the acquisition, resale and management of our inventory, filing our financial statements with the SEC, implementing SOX compliance, and the many other things that happen to ensure we have timely and accurate financial reporting to support the operations of our business. Christy also played a critical role in Opendoor becoming a public company, leading the substantial accounting and financial reporting work that was required as part of that process.

Prior to joining Opendoor, Christy was the Corporate Controller at Yodlee, where she held various leadership positions during her six-year tenure and led the accounting team through its first year as a public company. She went on to lead the accounting diligence process and the early integration efforts when Yodlee was acquired by Envestnet in 2015.

We are also very happy to announce that Brad Bonney has been promoted to VP of Operations to oversee all of our city operations, including home renovations and repairs, new market launches, Trust & Safety, procurement and vendor management and more. He will continue to report to our Chief Customer Officer Megan Meyer Toolson. Brad has been with Opendoor for nearly four years. In that time, he has held various operating roles with increasing scope. From architecting and scaling our Trust & Safety process to overseeing city operations as we expand into new markets, Brad has played a critical role in ensuring Opendoor is delivering on its promise to our customers.

Prior to joining Opendoor, Brad led Trust & Safety Operations at Airbnb, where he helped scale the team from 20 to 250 globally. He is also a former Naval officer, having served tours of duty on the Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine USS Jefferson City and with Maritime Expeditionary Security Group One.

Start and End with the Customer is just one of the many core operating principles that Christy and Brad embody by delivering everyday in service of our customers. In their expanded roles, Brad and Christy will help us maintain operational and accounting excellence as we further scale our business. We congratulate them on their promotions!

Carrie Wheeler is Chief Financial Officer and Megan Meyer Toolson is Chief Customer Officer.
